Hair loss is not a diagnosis in itself. It may represent genetic pattern hair loss, temporary diffuse shedding, patchy alopecia, scalp inflammation or another cause. Treatment depends on the pattern.
We look at onset, speed, distribution, scalp symptoms, recent illness or weight loss, pregnancy, medication, family history and previous treatment. Good photographs of the hairline, temples, crown, parting and scalp are useful.
Read hair loss, androgenetic alopecia, minoxidil, finasteride and scalp problems.
Sudden bald patches, eyebrow or eyelash loss, marked inflammation, pustules, pain, scarring or an atypical rapidly progressive pattern may require physical examination or dermatology assessment.
The clinic is focused on medical assessment and evidence-based treatment. We do not sell hair transplantation and have no incentive to make a procedure the default endpoint.
